how is a video made?
The production values of a video can vary according to budget; however, the basic storytelling technique is what matters. Making a video, especially a great one, relies on creativity throughout the process. So, keep an open mind and be prepared to tweak things as you go along! It’s always the best thing to do...the first bit is storyboarding
We usually begin by imagining the way you want your audience to feel once they’ve watched your video production. What do you want them to know... and what would you like them to do? From here, we collectively decide how best to achieve this outcome by creating a unique storyboard, an envisioned ‘order of events’ that brings the whole video together. This process can be lots of fun!the second bit is making the arrangements
Video production can be challenging, especially as coordinating diaries, booking artists, securing locations, preparing scripts, organising crew, travel and accommodation all takes some doing! However, we’re used to this which means that the logistics of producing a video are professionally managed. It’s great when it all comes together.the third bit is filming
Filming can be really exciting, but also hard work... and in our case, as quality remains paramount in everything we do, we make no excuses for taking our time to get things 100% right. You need lots of know-how and experience when on the shoot, which is why having industry professionals is so important. Knowing what to shoot and how, along with what to light and what to record is critical for a video production to look and sound brilliant. Added to that, getting the most out of your participants is essential, which is why expert coaching and direction is all part of our winning formula.
the forth bit is editing
With the film in the can, the next bit is editing. Here, we begin by digitising the footage filmed into our Avid Media Composers - advanced editing machines used for high-end film and television production. The footage is then sub-clipped into usable ‘chunks’ that when edited together form the basis of your video production. The skill levels involved are enormously high, both technically and creatively, and so the criteria lies is knowing exactly how and where to cut. And as you can imagine, it takes years of experience to become good at it! It usually makes the biggest difference too.the fifth bit is reviewing
By now, we have what we call a ‘rough cut’, in other words a basic assembly of the programme that we put online for you to see. What’s great about this, is that you a get a chance to review the video and help fine tune things. After several reviews and once we’re sure you’re really pleased, we then go to the final stage.the sixth bit is audio post
50% of the experience we create in a video production lies in the quality of sound, a carefully constructed score that dramatically brings all of your pictures to life. The emotional attributes are in fact as much reliant upon sound as they are on images and so our post production of sound is arguably last, but not least in the whole process. And once the video is completed ‘warts and all’, it’s then mastered and stored digitally in our digital video production storage system. It’s all very impressive. For more information, we’d be happy spend time chatting to you:
